Day one complete!
As one of our van drivers, Vern, said on Twitter last night, we counted them all out and we counted them all back in again.
It was a tough day for our 29 cyclists – they faced wind, hail, sun, more wind, then a hilly finish into Newark-upon-Trent. We may have misplaced a minibus and a couple of cyclists a couple of miles from the finish, but in the main it was a successful day’s riding.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to the people at The Ship in Bewtry, who came in on their day off to cook us two big vats of Bolognase and carbonara.
We we would also like to say thanks to The Muskham Ferry for accommodating us for dinner – we hope your darts team weren’t too put out we delayed their match!
But we’re now on our way for day two – and so far so good.
Please check our Twitter for up-to-the-minute news and pictures from day two, including who ate all the pies at Melton Mowbray, and please donate here, too.
Our amazing total so far!
